About this Collection

This collection brings together the 2012 Dynamite Entertainment series that reimagines Edgar Rice Burroughs' classic Barsoom adventures. Written by Robert Place Napton and illustrated by various artists, the story follows John Carter as he returns to Mars to face new threats and political upheaval among the warring city-states of the Red Planet. The volume collects the complete miniseries, offering a modern take on the pulp science fantasy saga.

Warriors of Mars #1 (2012) introduces a bold new chapter in the Martian saga, with writer Robert Place Napton and artist Jack Jadson launching a fresh take on the red planet’s struggle. When Jones arrives in a future where Earth has invaded Mars, he’s quickly mistaken for a spy and implanted with a tracking worm—setting off a tense cat-and-mouse game between human forces and the Martian resistance. Cover by Joe Jusko captures the stark, dramatic tone of a world caught between war and survival.

Jones arrives in the future to discover that humans from Earth have invaded Mars. Seeing Jones in native attire, the humans assume he is a spy. They plant a worm in Jones and release him, hoping to follow him to the hiding place of the resistance fighters. Jones is captured by the Martians and learns that Dejah Carter, descendant of John Carter and Dejah Thoris, leads the resistance fighters. The Martians distrust Jones, but he earns their trust when he rescues Dejah from a human raiding party.
