“La Reine-Cobra”

In "La Reine-Cobra," Jon sets out to rescue his abducted sister, joining forces with a mute minstrel and a dwarf named Evor. When they stumble upon a maiden about to be sacrificed to a fire-breathing dragon, Jon defeats the beast—only to be betrayed and left with a missing arm. With the help of the freed maiden, they seek out a nearby wise-woman who might restore what was lost. Written by Robert Kanigher and illustrated with striking detail by Jan Duursema, with colors by Adrienne Roy, this 1984 issue features a cover by Mike Grell.

Searching for his abducted sister, Jon enlists the aid of a mute minstrel and a dwarf named Evor. They soon chance upon a maiden being sacrificed to a fire-breathing dragon, but Jon manages to slay the beast. But, one of the dragon's druid worshipers attacks Jon from behind and hacks off his arm. Evor kills the druid and the freed maiden suggests they take Jon to a nearby wise-woman, who may be able to restore his arm.
