Warlord #5
In "La Reine-Cobra," Jon sets out to rescue his abducted sister, joining forces with a mute minstrel and a dwarf named Evor. When they stumble upon a maiden about to be sacrificed to a fire-breathing dragon, Jon defeats the beast—only to be betrayed and left with a missing arm. With the help of the freed maiden, they seek out a nearby wise-woman who might restore what was lost. Written by Robert Kanigher and illustrated with striking detail by Jan Duursema, with colors by Adrienne Roy, this 1984 issue features a cover by Mike Grell.
In the frozen heart of the fjord, Viking Prince Jon is haunted by memory as a witch-woman works to reattach his severed arm. Flashing back to the moment he lost it, he recalls the desperate plunge into icy waters after his sister was taken by a rival warlord—only to face a monstrous sea-serpent rising from the depths.
In the second part of "Enfer de glace," Viking Prince Jon, still seeking his abducted sister, presses on with his companions Evor and a mute minstrel. When they stumble upon a sacrificial ritual where a maiden is doomed to a fire-breathing dragon, Jon proves his valor by slaying the beast—only to be betrayed and disarmed by a druid assassin. With his arm lost, the group turns to a nearby wise-woman, hoping she might offer a cure, as the path ahead grows ever more perilous.
