# War Heroes #5 A series of combat vignettes depicting American soldiers in wartime operations. Sergeant McKay leads his unit in repelling enemy forces while simultaneously recovering stolen assault maps from a captured enemy messenger. Kirk and Downey execute a successful ambush to halt enemy troops attempting to destroy a dam. In a separate engagement, soldiers Johnny and a commanding officer conduct a dangerous forward observation post reconnaissance mission under enemy fire, with Johnny successfully destroying an enemy gun position during a sudden mortar attack. The issue concludes with a call for volunteers for another perilous reconnaissance assignment near enemy lines.
