Venomverse Reborn #3
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeVenomverse Reborn #3 (August 28, 2024) is a pivotal chapter of Marvel's most ambitious symbiote anthology since the original Edge of Venomverse, delivering multiple first appearances that expand both the Venomverse and the Spider-Verse simultaneously. The issue introduces V-Star — an alternate-universe Cindy Moon transformed into a symbiote-bonded monster to protect her younger brother Albert, who carries on as an alternate Silk — a dark inversion of both characters' familiar heroic roles that recontextualizes the Moon family mythology. Equally significant, the Steve Foxe/Kei Zama segment continues the story of Web-Weaver (Cooper Coen), Marvel's first canonically gay male Spider-hero, now placed in direct confrontation with a symbiote threat, further anchoring him as a recurring presence beyond his debut anthology. Taken together, the issue demonstrates the Venomverse's growing capacity to generate genuine new lore rather than simply remixing existing characters.

Venomverse Reborn is a four-issue limited series launched in June 2024, positioned as a successor to the 2017 Edge of Venomverse and the 2023 Extreme Venomverse anthologies, set in the aftermath of Carnage's near-destruction of the Venomverse. The series was architected by Al Ewing, then the principal writer of the mainline Venom series, who supplies a connective frame narrative — 'Five Questions, Part Three' in this issue — starring the Eventuality (the apotheosized, far-future Eddie Brock as King in Black) as a cosmic host figure. Issue #3 notably shifts the guest-writer duties to Gerry Duggan, Ryan North, and Steve Foxe, with artists Brent Peeples, Matthew Waite, and Kei Zama respectively handling the anthology segments, while Danilo S. Beyruth remains on the framing story. Editor Emily Newcomen oversaw the issue under Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski.
Trivia · 8 facts
- Published August 28, 2024 (cover-dated October 2024); third issue of the four-part Venomverse Reborn limited series.
- First appearance of V-Star: an alternate-universe Cindy Moon who was bonded to a symbiote as a child and transformed into a monstrous symbiote protector to spare her younger brother Albert from the full corruption of the organism.
- First appearance of an alternate Albert Moon Sr. (in flashback only; depicted as dying after a symbiote possesses him), and the alternate Albert Moon Jr. (this universe's version of Silk, a.k.a. 'Silk' as a male hero).
- First appearance of the Earth-76452 Venomsaurus Rex in a time-loop scenario — a venomized Tyrannosaurus rex distinct from the Earth-66 Venomsaurus Rex previously seen in Edge of Spider-Verse III #1 (2023) and Death of the Venomverse #5 (2023); this segment is written by Ryan North and formatted as an affectionate homage to North's long-running Dinosaur Comics webcomic.
- Web-Weaver (Cooper Coen, Earth-71490) — Marvel's first canonically gay male Spider-hero, originally introduced in Edge of Spider-Verse (Vol. 2) #5 (October 2022) by Steve Foxe and Kei Zama — appears here in a continued story by the same creative team, deepening his ties to the Venomverse and to the alternate Silk/Cindy Moon mythology.
- The Gerry Duggan segment (Earth-197629) features a darkly comedic version of Eddie Brock's Venom whose symbiote ultimately abandons him for a terminally ill fan named Marcus Smith — a story thematically inverting Venom's usual 'lethal protector' role.
- Al Ewing and Danilo S. Beyruth's framing strip 'Five Questions: Part Three' continues the series-wide spine in which Dylan Brock (the unseen visitor) questions the Eventuality — the ultimate apotheosized form of Eddie Brock — setting up cosmological stakes that would directly feed into the Venom War event and the subsequent Spider-Verse vs. Venomverse series (2025).
- The issue shipped with at least four variant covers: a regular Tony S. Daniel cover, a Derrick Chew Symbiote variant, a 1:25 Ryan Brown variant, and a 1:100 Derrick Chew Symbiote Virgin variant, plus a Leinil Francis Yu connecting variant.
