“I'm in Love Again”

In "I'm in Love Again," Tessa finds herself caught between quiet moments on her houseboat and the unexpected turns of a river carnival gone awry. When her neighbors' boat capsizes and she’s rescued by Susie, a mysterious note from the orphan girl sets off a chain of tender, unspoken feelings. As James offers a lift to work and then surprises Tessa with a proposal, the quiet rhythms of the river life take on a new, hopeful pulse—drawn with warmth and gentle detail by Rab Hamilton.

Having come to live on a houseboat, Tessa has gone to a River Carnival with her next door neighbors, but on the way back their boat overturns. After the first chill shock of the water, it was rather fun until they came up to the houseboats and found Susie waiting. The next morning Tessa gets a note, obviously written by Susie, telling her to walk to work. Not wanting to cause trouble for the orphan girl who wants to keep James to herself, Tessa declines James offer of a lift to work. But James shows up to take Tessa to lunch and surprises her by proposing.
