“Take Me Back Again”

In "Take Me Back Again," Tessa finds herself caught in a tense, sun-drenched evening at a seaside carnival, invited by her landlord and neighbor James. As the night unfolds with dancing and shared laughter, a quiet undercurrent of rivalry surfaces between Tessa and Desiree, while Teddy’s playful antics on the water take a sudden, dangerous turn. With art by Rab Hamilton, this 1958 issue captures a moment of fleeting romance and subtle tension, all set against the backdrop of a summer island escape.

Invited by James, her landlord and next door neighbour, to a carnival on the island, Tessa leaves late and has to swim there. At first she dances with James, then when the Paul Jones is started, Teddy becomes her new partner. When Teddy brings her over to talk with Desiree, it is clear to Tessa that Desiree thinks she is out to steal his boyfriend. Neither James nor Teddy seem to notice that the girls disliked each other. When the dancing was finished, the four of them shared a rowboat, but Teddy started rocking the boat and the boat turns over.
