“Somebody Else's Girl”

In "Somebody Else's Girl," Diane finds herself caught between longing and pride as Jack prepares to leave for South Africa, determined to keep his freedom. To hide her heartbreak, she fabricates a story about moving to New York, only to secretly return and hide in her flatmate’s closet whenever he comes knocking—her quiet defiance echoing in every whispered knock. A tender, intimate tale of unspoken feelings, drawn in the crisp, expressive style of the era, this 1964 Valentine issue captures a moment of youthful longing with quiet precision.
