Ann is content working at the filling station in a sleepy town not far from London. When Greg shows up asking for Jean Howe, Ann is intrigued by him and doesn't want him to leave. She claims that Jean Howe is on a two-week holiday although she had never heard of anyone with that name and helps get him a job at the filling station. Ann and Greg get along well together, but when the two weeks are up and Ann can't produce Jean Howe he jumps to the conclusion that Ann is actually Jean. Not wanting to lose him, she goes along with him and claims that she is the person he is looking for.
