The Toady tells Usagi and Ishida about the box which was taken from Matsudaira's body. Ishida finds the box in the possession of Kin, a fencer of stolen goods, but the box is empty and Kin swears it had arrived in that condition. Ishida and Usagi seek out Oda, the man who sold it to Kin, but the Toady has informed on them to the same people who killed Matsudaira and they send their samurai to attack Usagi, Ishida and Oda.
