Usagi Yojimbo #48

Stan Sakai's cover for issue #48 sets a thrillingly chaotic scene: Usagi scrambles across a rooftop while a masked, sword-wielding cat warrior presses the attack, shuriken flashing through the air between them — and looming over it all, a massive, wide-jawed reptilian creature threatens to swallow the whole confrontation whole. Titled "Escape!", this 2001 Dark Horse entry promises exactly what the cover delivers — a desperate, kinetic flight with danger closing in from every direction. Sakai's expressive, fluid linework gives the whole scene an energy that's hard to resist.
