Usagi Yojimbo #113
Stan Sakai's cover for issue #113 sets up a wonderfully tense scene outside a weathered wooden building, where our long-eared rabbit ronin Usagi stands in the foreground looking decidedly uneasy — sword half-drawn — as an armed rhino in purple robes looms to his left and an equally threatening bird-like samurai presses in from the right, blades raised. Lurking overhead on the building's ledge, a grinning figure peers down, hinting that someone in this story titled "Snitch" may be playing all sides. It's a lively, expressive composition that showcases Sakai's gift for anthropomorphic storytelling and old-Japan atmosphere.
