That unsettling, heavily scarred face looming across the cover — all bared teeth, piercings, and cybernetic tubing — makes it immediately clear that Unity is "Trapped by Webnet" in something genuinely menacing. Clayton Crain's painted cover work gives the villain an almost tactile grotesqueness, every wrinkle and implant rendered with uncomfortable detail. Matt Kindt, Cafu, and Brian Reber's "Ground Control" arc was shaping up in 2014 as one of Valiant's more intriguing team-book runs, and this volume collecting it is a solid entry point into the Unity world.
