Undiscovered Country #7

Issue seven of Scott Snyder and Charles Soule's dystopian Image series delivers an unsettling cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli: a crowd of dazed, bare-shouldered figures — including a central woman with blue-streaked hair and a man beside her — stare upward, white and red strings descending toward them like puppet wires from a massive barcode looming overhead. The bloodied threads and vacant expressions suggest themes of control and commodification that have driven this series from the start. Matt Wilson's moody crimson palette ties the whole image together with a quiet menace that makes it hard to look away.
