“The Last Kkrul”

In "The Last Kkrul," a heartbroken old man seeks dark magic to win back the love of a Gypsy girl after killing her former suitor. With the help of a sorceress, he trades faces with the corpse of his rival, only to find his new visage—stark and lifeless—drives the girl into terror. Jack Keller’s moody art brings this eerie tale of obsession and transformation to life, while Larry Lieber, John Romita, and Tom Palmer craft a haunting cover that captures the story’s chilling essence.

An old man in love with a Gypsy girl murders his rival. The girl continues to moon over the dead man so a Gypsy woman offers to make the old man resemble the man he killed. He goes to the gravesite at night with a picture and the sorceress summons the ghost and commands it to exchange faces with the old man. He rushes off to see the girl, but she screams at his approach, as he now has the face of a corpse several months dead.
