“The Uninvited”

This 2016 entry in Marvel's Uncanny Avengers brings together one of comics' more delightfully mismatched rosters, and the cover by Carlos Pacheco captures that energy perfectly — Deadpool strikes a sheepish pose center-stage, flanked by Rogue, a costumed Spider-Man kid, the Synapse-masked figure, and a gold-chained Starhawk-style figure throwing up peace signs, while an older man in a wheelchair and a nonchalant teammate sipping a drink round out the eclectic crew, with a small droid-like device at their feet. Writer Gerry Duggan brings his signature mix of humor and heart to "The Uninvited," and the cover's casual, almost sitcom-style group portrait hints at the offbeat team dynamic he crafts so well. It's the kind of issue that reminds you superhero comics can be genuinely fun.
