Uncanny Avengers #2
The Red Skull looms enormous and menacing on this striking 2013 cover by John Cassaday and Laura Martin, his gaping crimson face dominating the hypnotic concentric-circle background while shadowy figures — including what appear to be several of the Uncanny Avengers — stand silhouetted in his wake. It's a genuinely unsettling image that makes the story title "Skullduggery" feel perfectly chosen. Rick Remender's Marvel NOW! series continues to blend Avengers and X-Men corners of the Marvel universe, and this second issue promises the kind of big, atmospheric storytelling that Cassaday's art was made for.
