About this Issue

As the finale of the new Ultimate Universe's first-ever crossover event series, this issue carries genuine structural weight for both of Marvel's active publishing lines. Its central storytelling gambit — restoring Miles Morales's suppressed memories of the original Ultimate Universe, a thread left dangling since Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic's 2015 Secret Wars — resolves a decade-long narrative loose end in a fashion that multiple reviewers called one of the most consequential Miles Morales moments since the character migrated to Earth-616. Equally significant, the issue plants the Origin Boxes in the main Marvel continuity, a device with direct downstream consequences explored in subsequent titles including Reborn: Ultimate Impact, meaning this finale functions simultaneously as a proper ending and a cross-line story engine for what comes next.

History

The series was announced at ComicsPRO in February 2025 and described by Marvel as the first limited series set within their relaunched Ultimate line, which had been running ongoing titles since 2024. Writers Deniz Camp (who had been scripting The Ultimates) and Cody Ziglar (the ongoing Miles Morales: Spider-Man scribe) co-wrote all five issues, with Jonas Scharf — previously the artist on the Ultimate Universe: One Year In one-shot — handling interior art across the run; cover duties for every issue went to Sara Pichelli, Miles Morales's co-creator. The miniseries was explicitly built to pay off seeds that Ultimate Universe architect Jonathan Hickman had planted at the very start of the line, bridging the Earth-616 Miles Morales titles with the five concurrent Ultimate ongoing series in a single interconnected story.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • Published October 22, 2025 (cover-dated December 2025); written by Deniz Camp and Cody Ziglar, art by Jonas Scharf and Edgar Delgado, cover by Sara Pichelli and Tamra Bonvillain.
  • Final issue of a five-issue limited series — the first crossover event ever published within Marvel's relaunched Ultimate Universe line, drawing together all five of its concurrent ongoing titles: Ultimate Spider-Man, Ultimate Black Panther, Ultimate X-Men, Ultimates, and Ultimate Wolverine.
  • The issue resolves the plot thread of Miles Morales's lost memories of the original Ultimate Universe (Earth-1610), which had been erased when that universe was destroyed during Secret Wars (2015); Scharf illustrates a sequence visually recapping Miles's entire history from his original origin forward.
  • Emmanuel Da Costa (Black King), the final active member of the Maker's Council, serves as the primary antagonist; he attempts to drain the interdimensional energy from Billie Morales in order to free the imprisoned Maker, growing grotesquely in size as he absorbs power.
  • Iron Lad (the Earth-6160 Tony Stark) entrusts Miles with a set of 'Origin Boxes' — the catalysts originally used to create the Ultimate Universe's heroes — which Miles carries back to Earth-616; these devices become a central plot element in the subsequent series Reborn: Ultimate Impact.
  • Several characters appear in the issue primarily through Miles's restored vision-memory sequences, including Earth-1610 cameos of Conrad Marcus (Venom), Thorlief Golmen (Thor), Ganke Lee, Rio Morales, and others from his original universe.
  • The issue shipped on the same day as Miles Morales: Spider-Man #39, which depicts Miles's immediate return to Earth-616; Marvel described the two issues as a coordinated conclusion to the Incursion story.
  • Variants include covers by Pete Woods (1:25 incentive), Marc Aspinall, and a 2026 Ultimate Spoiler cover by Leinil Francis Yu.
