History

Jonathan Hickman conceived the series as the debut title of the new Ultimate Universe (Earth-6160), which launched after the 2023 Ultimate Invasion miniseries; at San Diego Comic-Con 2025, the conclusion at issue #24 was announced, with Hickman stating the 24-issue shape was always part of his original pitch and that nothing deviated from it. The real-time pacing — each issue set in roughly the same month it shipped — was flagged by Hickman himself as one of the 'radical' formal interventions he wanted to explore in the Ultimate imprint. The final issue shipped February 18, 2026, slightly later than the December 2025 target announced at New York Comic Con 2025, and ran 40 pages with art shared between regular series collaborators Marco Checchetto and David Messina, the two artists who had traded pages throughout the run.
