About this Issue

Ultimate Spider-Man #19 marks the first full appearance of Ultimate Venom in the new Earth-6160 continuity — not an alien symbiote, but the sentient Peter Parker A.I. housed inside Richard Parker's Tony Stark-designed Picotech Stealth Suit, unleashing itself in monstrous form against Kingpin's Bullseye battalion. This reimagining of the Venom concept strips away decades of symbiote mythology and replaces it with a tech-horror origin rooted entirely in the series' own established logic, demonstrating the creative ambition that defined Hickman and Checchetto's run. Published just days after Marvel announced at San Diego Comic-Con that the series would conclude with issue #24, the issue arrives as a pivot point: with only five issues remaining, Richard Parker's transformation escalates the stakes for the entire Parker family and seeds potential future storytelling in the Ultimate Universe beyond the run's end.

History

The issue is part of Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto's planned 24-issue run on the third volume of Ultimate Spider-Man, launched as a flagship title of Marvel's rebooted Ultimate Universe imprint in 2024. Hickman has stated publicly that the run was executed exactly as he originally pitched it, with no deviations from his outline — a notable creative rarity for a mainstream superhero ongoing. The Venom transformation introduced here was structurally foreshadowed as far back as the crossover miniseries Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion, where a dimensionally displaced Miles Morales inadvertently gave Richard Parker the name 'Venom,' planting the seed for this issue's payoff. Colorist Matt Wilson and letterer Cory Petit round out the core production team alongside Hickman and Checchetto.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • First appearance of the Peter Parker A.I. as Venom (Earth-6160) — a tech-based entity distinct from the alien Klyntar symbiote of Earth-616.
  • Written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Marco Checchetto, colors by Matt Wilson, and letters by VC's Cory Petit; published July 30, 2025.
  • Plot centers on Richard Parker (Peter's teenage son) escaping Kingpin's trap via the Picotech Stealth Suit's autonomous defense mode, which transforms him into a monstrous Venom-like figure that routs Kingpin's Bullseye guards.
  • The Sinister Six begins to fracture internally: Mr. Negative, Mole Man, and Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) show eroding confidence in Kingpin's leadership, while Kraven the Hunter's whereabouts remain unknown to the group.
  • Mole Man visits Peter Parker at his apartment and formally offers to defect from Kingpin's alliance, advancing a potential heroic Sinister Six counter-faction.
  • Mary Jane Watson-Parker confronts Peter about the danger his double life has placed their family in — a rare moment of sustained domestic realism cited by multiple reviewers as a storytelling highlight of the issue.
  • Issue released four days after the SDCC 2025 announcement that the series would conclude with issue #24 (December 24, 2025), feeding directly into the upcoming Ultimate Endgame crossover event.
  • Multiple variant covers produced, including a 1:100 Gerald Parel Mary Jane Virgin Variant, a 1:25 Benjamin Su Variant, a Tradd Moore Variant, and an SDCC 2025 Marco Checchetto Color Splash Virgin Variant, plus second-printing variants.
