Ultimate Black Panther launched in February 2024 as the second ongoing series in Marvel's rebooted Ultimate Universe (Earth-6160), overseen editorially by Wil Moss and Michelle Marchese under Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, with writer Bryan Hill and artist Stefano Caselli as the consistent creative team from issue #1. Hill, whose earlier Marvel work included the Killmonger limited series, cited influences ranging from classic Black Panther comics to Ryan Coogler's films and Frank Herbert's world-building in Dune when discussing his approach to the title. Issue #13, published February 19, 2025, marks the deliberate structural break Hill planned as a year-two pivot point, shifting the central conflict away from the defeated Moon Knight and toward the supernatural nature of vibranium itself.
