History

The series was developed by writer Bryan Edward Hill and artist Stefano Caselli under editors Wil Moss and Michelle Marchese, with Hill explicitly citing Frank Herbert's Dune as a philosophical analog — emphasizing political intrigue, ancient spiritualism, and the cost of prophecy over straightforward superhero action. Hill described the project as an opportunity for broad, epic storytelling he had long pursued in comics, and the book launched in February 2024 as the second ongoing series of the new Ultimate Universe line, one month after Ultimate Spider-Man. Issue #12, cover-dated March 2025 and released January 8, 2025, carries interior colors by David Curiel and lettering by Cory Petit, with C.B. Cebulski serving as editor-in-chief.
