About this Issue

TVA #5 closes the five-issue limited series that formally merged the comics-native Time Variance Authority with the version established across the Disney+ Loki seasons and Deadpool & Wolverine, a historically unprecedented blending of Marvel's print and screen continuities in an ongoing narrative. The issue delivers the series' central twist: the TVA staffer known as 'Ingrid' is unmasked as Dreamqueen, Nightmare's daughter, revealed to have engineered the 'Madness' haunting the agency from within. It also contains a charged character beat in which a Wanda Maximoff variant verbally resigns from the Avengers, and the TVA's cat Maggie is revealed as a Flerken — a creature whose comics history stretches back to Captain Marvel's corner of the Marvel Universe. As the finale of the first standalone TVA comic series, it caps a run that brought several MCU-originated characters (Miss Minutes, B-15, Ouroboros) into their first sustained comics existence.

History

The TVA limited series was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 jointly by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski, signaling an unusual degree of cross-divisional coordination for what became a five-issue miniseries. The primary creative team was writer Katharyn Blair — an executive story editor on Loki Season 2 making her comics-writing debut — and artist Pere Pérez, with a recurring backup feature written by Ryan North and drawn by Enid Balam. Blair has described the series as her comics interpretation of the organization following Loki's sacrifice at the end of Loki Season 2, and the book was edited by Jordan D. White under editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski. The series was subsequently collected as TVA: For All Time, Always.
