“The Scrap of Paper”

In "The Scrap of Paper," Peter Parker’s quiet evening takes a sharp turn when Aunt May, worried for his health, puts him to bed—just as the Kangaroo evades federal agents and steals what he believes is money, only to find it’s a vial of deadly bacteria. When Peter sneaks out to stop him, he succeeds, but the real cost hits hard when Aunt May collapses upon discovering the web dummy he left behind. Written by Stan Lee and John Romita, with art by John Buscema and Jim Mooney, and a cover by Harold Johns, this 1970 issue captures Spider-Man at his most emotionally strained—facing consequences that weigh heavier than any villain’s punch.
