“Anniversary”

In "Anniversary," Jay Scott Pike’s expressive art brings to life Julie’s quiet struggle in a working-class neighborhood, where her pride in her parents clashes with her longing for a life beyond her roots. When her family is honored at an "I Am an American Day" event, Julie’s shame leads her to stay home—only to lose her fiancé Chet, who calls her out for her distance. Vince Colletta’s cover captures the emotional weight of the moment, while the story unfolds with gentle honesty, exploring identity, belonging, and the quiet courage it takes to reconcile with one’s roots.
