“Missing”

In "Missing," Top Dog’s life takes a surprising turn when an accident leaves him with amnesia—forgetting even that he can speak—before being taken in by the Wilsons. With his sharp mind still intact, he’s quickly turned into the star of a dog food ad campaign, while his former partner, Joey, is left heartbroken, believing he’s abandoned him. Written by Dave Manak and illustrated by Warren Kremer, with inks by Jacqueline Roettcher and Jon D’Agostino, and colors by George Roussos, this 1986 Marvel issue captures a poignant twist in the life of a hero who’s lost himself. The cover, by Warren Kremer, shows Top Dog in his new role, a quiet moment that hints at the emotional journey ahead.
