About this Collection

This second volume of the French edition of Chew follows Tony Chu, a detective with the ability to receive psychic impressions from anything he eats, as he continues his investigations in a world where the avian flu has made chicken illegal. The story deepens the conspiracy surrounding the food industry and Tony's unique talent, blending dark humor with crime noir elements. Written by John Layman and illustrated by Rob Guillory, this collection includes issues from the original series' second story arc.

In Tony Chu, détective cannibale #2, the bizarre detective is jailed in Yamapalu on suspicion of murdering Lin Sae Woo—only to prove his innocence by biting a cellmate and revealing the hidden corpse. With help from Chief Kulolo, Tony follows a trail of blood and feathers to uncover a clandestine rooster fighting ring, leading to the recovery of Poyo, the prized bird. As a reward, the Chief grants Tony access to the morgue, where he takes his first taste of Gallasberry—a mysterious new flavor that hints at deeper secrets. Written by John Layman and Nick Meylaender, with art, inks, colors, and letters by Rob Guillory, and a cover by Rob Guillory, this 2011 issue blends crime, the supernatural, and the unsettling pleasures of a cannibal’s palate.
