“Life After Undeath”

This "Special Issue" of Marvel's long-running horror series pits the Lord of Vampires against the most formidable opponent imaginable — the cover, penciled by Gene Colan and inked by Tom Palmer, depicts a caped Dracula standing his ground before a massive, horned Satan wreathed in hellfire, while a frightened blonde woman cowers behind him. The bold cover copy says it all: "Dracula — Face-to-Face with Satan!" — a confrontation that radiates genuine dread even before you open the first page. With Marv Wolfman's storytelling and the Colan/Palmer art team at the helm, this 1978 entry in the series is a compelling reminder of why Tomb of Dracula earned the title "Comicdom's Number 1 Fear Magazine.
