Tom Mix uncovers a plot to contaminate the town's water supply from a new dam and must stop the villains before they can destroy it and become heroes themselves. When Tom discovers that the real Professor Bimpkins has gone to the bank, he disguises himself to meet with the imposter and uncover the scheme. Tom then learns that criminals plan to use dynamite to blow up the dam's center, and he races to stop them by destroying their slow-burning fuse before the explosion can occur. In a climactic confrontation, Tom captures the gang of thieves who had orchestrated the plot, thwarting their plan to become celebrated as heroes by "accidentally" solving the water contamination crisis.

7 pp · Western-Frontier

When Sheriff Mike Shaw and Tom Mix battle a gang of outlaws, they earn the town's gratitude—but a cunning stranger named Sleazy has other plans. 1 pp · Humor, Western-Frontier

Cowboy Cal's got a real problem on his hands—his eyes are acting up something fierce, and he can't figure out what's going on. When he decides to share his troubles with the boys, his explanation lands in a way he probably didn't expect. It's a quick, silly bit of frontier humor that proves sometimes the simplest mix-ups make for the best laughs.

Hero Without Glory
8 pp · Western-Frontier

Tom Mix faces a crisis when an overeager young man named Clyde Horn, desperate to become a hero, plants dynamite at the new Dobie Dam—based on a dangerous misunderstanding about contaminated water. The Rain Maker
4 pp · Humor, Western-Frontier

When a terrible drought threatens the crops and livelihoods of his community, young Tumbleweed Jr. hatches an audacious plan: climb to the mountaintop, catch an eagle, and use it to push clouds together and force the rain to fall. What follows is a wild, determined journey filled with creative (if increasingly desperate) attempts to make his scheme work—complete with arrows, soaring through the sky, and one spectacular plunge back to earth. It's a humorous Western tale about one kid's earnest effort to save the day, even if his logic might need a little work.

The $50,000 Riddle!
7 pp · Western-Frontier

Tom Mix suspects that a rare historical document isn't quite what it seems when Wortham Snarling offers to sell Jonathan Meeker an original draft of Washington's inaugural speech for fifty thousand dollars—and a mysterious attack on the document just before the sale raises Tom's suspicions even higher. When Tom arranges for a scholarly expert to examine the piece before the deal is finalized, things take an unexpected turn, and he finds himself tangled up in a web of forgery, impersonation, and deception that threatens to leave Meeker holding an expensive fake.

Saddlehead Budgets His Brains!
1 pp · Humor, Western-Frontier

Saddlehead stumbles across a travel book about Egypt and gets stuck on a single word—"budget"—leading him to hilariously misunderstand what it means when he reads "See Egypt on a Budget."
