Joe Phillips's cover art for this five-issue DC miniseries makes an immediate, visceral impression — a snarling, fang-bared Timber Wolf fills the frame, his wild mane of dark hair and razor-sharp claws lunging straight at the reader, while a smaller inset figure in the upper left hints at the feral speed that defines the character. The tagline "Unleashed in the 20th Century" sets up the fish-out-of-time premise that writer Al Gordon explores in "Twentieth Century Wolf." It's a punchy, confident opener that wears its early-'90s energy well.
