ThunderCats: Lost was announced by Dynamite Entertainment in December 2024 as a direct companion to both the mainline ThunderCats series (written by Declan Shalvey and drawn by Drew Moss) and the incoming SilverHawks title. The series was handed to writer Ed Brisson and artist Rapha Lobosco, the same creative team behind the ThunderCats: Apex one-shot, with editor Nate Cosby shepherding the project. Brisson and Lobosco designed two wholly original Thunderian characters — Neko, a snow leopard warrior, and Ligon, a liger bruiser — to flesh out a five-member squad alongside the returning animation veterans. Issue #1 shipped on March 19, 2025, after a brief release-date adjustment, and #8 followed on November 5, 2025, placing the series deep into what the fandom wiki confirms was a planned ten-issue arc.
