ThunderCats: Lost was conceived as a deliberate tonal counterpoint to Declan Shalvey's mainline ThunderCats title, spotlighting the franchise's lesser-known second-season characters — Bengali, Pumyra, and Lynx-O — alongside two wholly new Thunderians created for the comics, Neko and Ligon. Writer Ed Brisson and artist Rapha Lobosco, who had previously collaborated on the ThunderCats: Apex one-shot, were reunited by editor Nate Cosby to helm the series, which launched in March 2025.
