About this Issue

ThunderCats: Lost #2 marks the first full comic-book appearance of Scorpius, a brand-new villain created specifically for Dynamite's expanded ThunderCats universe — a ruthless, single-minded bounty hunter who serves as Captain Shiner's deadliest enforcer and represents a genuinely fresh threat unlike any antagonist seen in the original 1985 animated franchise. The issue is also significant as the second chapter in a deliberate effort to spotlight Bengali, Pumyra, and Lynx-O — secondary characters from the cartoon's later seasons who had never been the leads of a sustained comics storyline — giving them a gritty, war-thriller framework that the main title does not attempt. Within Dynamite's interconnected Rankin-Bass revival (the flagship ThunderCats series, SilverHawks, and Lost itself), this issue deepens a shared universe architecture that would eventually culminate in a fifteen-issue ThunderCats × SilverHawks crossover event, meaning the new characters debuted here carried direct narrative weight well beyond the Lost series itself.

History

ThunderCats: Lost was conceived as a sister series to Dynamite's successful 2024 ThunderCats relaunch, with editor Nate Cosby recruiting writer Ed Brisson and artist Rapha Lobosco — the team behind the ThunderCats: Apex one-shot — to helm a tonally distinct, war-comic-influenced spin-off centered on a squad of lesser-known Thunderans. Brisson and Lobosco designed entirely new characters (Neko and Ligon, introduced in issue #1) alongside reimagined origins for animated-series favorites, and with issue #2 they added Scorpius to that original-character roster, a villain Brisson publicly described as something the ThunderCats had never faced before. The series was solicited with an April 2025 on-sale date but, in common with much of Dynamite's spring 2025 slate, was pushed back and ultimately reached shops on May 7, 2025.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • First appearance of Scorpius: a new villain created by Ed Brisson and Rapha Lobosco, described as a one-man mercenary army employed by Captain Shiner with a sole mission of exterminating every ThunderCat he encounters.
  • Written by Ed Brisson (New Mutants, Predator, Batman Incorporated) with interior art by Rapha Lobosco — the same creative team behind the preceding ThunderCats: Apex one-shot.
  • Cover artists for the standard editions include Declan Shalvey (Cover A), Clayton Henry (Cover B), Meghan Hetrick (Cover C), Mark Bagley (Cover D), and Jae Lee & June Chung (Cover E), with additional foil, virgin, line-art, and metal-premium variant editions.
  • Protagonist ensemble: Commander Bengali leads the 'Lost' squad, which also includes Pumyra, Lynx-O, and the series-original characters Neko and Ligon — all operating behind enemy lines on a world governed by Captain Shiner's hyper-militarized, anti-magic regime.
  • Bengali, Pumyra, and Lynx-O are re-introduced with altered origins to fit Dynamite's rebooted continuity; the three originally appeared in the Rankin-Bass animated film ThunderCats Ho! and were second-season additions to the 1985 cartoon.
  • The series was officially solicited with a publication date of April 2025 but was delayed along with much of Dynamite's spring 2025 schedule, landing in shops on May 7, 2025.
  • ThunderCats: Lost is a 10-issue series; its cast and plot threads fed directly into a larger fifteen-issue ThunderCats × SilverHawks crossover event that was announced once the main series concluded.
  • The issue is rated Teen, runs 32 pages, and carries the Diamond order code FEB250162 for the Cover A edition.
