Vicki dislikes doctors because her doctor boyfriend cheated on her. When Dr. Ralph treats her father, Vicki changes her mind and they fall in love. However, he’s constantly called out on emergencies and she breaks up with him. When Vicki’s father falls ill, Ralph can’t respond and her father dies. Vicki uses her position as editor of the local newspaper to attack Ralph’s reputation. But she learns her father had an incurable heart condition and Ralph couldn’t have saved him, even if he hadn’t been operating on a little girl at the time. Vicki apologizes in print and reconciles with Ralph.
