Animal tamer Princess Pantha is a major attraction at the circus of Gilt-Edge Gates. Sent to French West Africa as a publicity stunt, she has been missing for more than a month, and Gates asks famed explorer Dane Hunter to look for her. In flashback we see how Pantha's safari was attacked and broken up, and of how she was spared only because the tribesmen believed that the rogue gorilla named M'gana was nearby. Two months later, when Hunter reaches the ambush spot, we find that Pantha has gone native and now wears only a top and bottom of leopard skin, and has become proficient as an archer.
