The Unwritten #20

This February 2011 Vertigo issue offers one of the more quietly enchanting covers in the series, with cover art by Yuko Shimizu depicting two figures — a young woman and a young man — leaning over an ornate dollhouse with the tender curiosity of children peering into another world. Inside that miniature Victorian structure, tiny figures interact with a sailing ship and what appears to be a whale, a world-within-a-world that perfectly captures The Unwritten's fascination with stories nested inside stories. With Mike Carey writing and Peter Gross and Vince Locke on art, "Leviathan 2" promises another imaginative chapter in this celebrated Vertigo series about the slippery borders between fiction and reality.
