Part of Marvel's Nation X initiative, Uncanny X-Men #520 brings together a striking trio on Terry and Rachel Dodson's cover: Wolverine crouches low in the foreground with claws extended and energy crackling around his fist, while Psylocke stands ready beside him, her own psionic power swirling in hand — and looming behind them both is a hooded, masked figure brandishing twin pistols. Matt Fraction scripts, with interior art by Greg Land, Jay Leisten, and colorist Justin Ponsor rounding out a talented creative team. It's a tense, moody image that promises high stakes for mutantkind on Utopia.

Wolverine, Psylocke and Colossus track a Predator X to New York but find that Fantomex has already taken care of the monster. The team then begins to track the Predator back to its source. On Magneto's orders, Namor and the Atlanteans finish a pillar to support Utopia and keep it from sinking into the ocean. Because he didn't get proper authorization for the project, however, Cyclops upbraids Magneto for his actions, causing Maggie to feel like he needs to make a drastic move to prove his commitment to the X-Men.
