The issue was written by Scott Lobdell — who had taken over the title in 1992 after a revolving-door period saw Chris Claremont, Jim Lee, Whilce Portacio, and John Byrne depart the X-books — and penciled by John Romita Jr., with inks by Dan Green and Al Vey, colors by Steve Buccellato, and letters by Chris Eliopoulos; Bob Harras edited under editor-in-chief Tom DeFalco. The issue carries a January 1994 cover date but was released in November 1993. Its production was marked by at least one notable error: a word balloon in the proposal scene was left blank in all printed copies, with the missing dialogue — Jean saying 'I'm tired of waiting, Scott' — only restored in the letters column of Uncanny X-Men #310; the corrected page was later properly reinstated in the Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix trade paperback collection.
