The Gathering Storm" blazes across the bottom of this August 1990 Marvel Comics issue, and the cover — penciled and inked by Andrew Wildman — makes that title feel entirely earned. Optimus Prime, Grimlock, and Galvatron are each called out by name as they surge from a chaotic burst of energy, joined by Ravage, Shockwave, and Starscream in a collision of Autobot and Decepticon forces that fills every corner of the composition. At the center of it all sits a bold question mark, a teasing reminder that with this many heavy hitters converging, anything could happen when you open to the story inside.
