A skull-faced figure clad in a tattered red costume drifts lifelessly through a starry void on José Luis García-López's striking cover for The Titans #43 — and that blaring "WASTED!" headline leaves little doubt about his condition. The September 2002 issue carries the second chapter of "Chemical World," with the creative team of Tom Peyer, Barry Kitson, and James Pascoe continuing what looks to be a genuinely dark turn for DC's veteran team book. García-López's fluid draftsmanship gives the floating figure a haunting, weightless quality that makes this one hard to set back on the shelf.
