This anthology issue features four stories from The Spirit's case-book: "It Kills by Dark," illustrated by Will Eisner, follows The Spirit as he confronts a mysterious threat in darkness; "The Walking Corpse" presents a supernatural menace; "The League of Liars" involves The Spirit investigating a criminal organization, with plot elements involving Mr. Nero and deception; and "A Man Named Nero" depicts encounters with the villain Mr. Nero in an ornate Roman-style setting where The Spirit works to stop his schemes.
