The Spirit #12
The Spirit investigates a series of bank robberies where the culprits exploit narrow pipes to enter and escape vaults undetected. When a second bank is robbed through an air vent, the Spirit devises a plan to catch the thieves by hiding in the city's sewer and cemetery systems. The criminals turn out to be a gang of midgets led by the notorious crook Handy Hilburn, whom the Spirit captures during a rooftop confrontation at a building where they've taken refuge with a stolen diamond.
