The Spectre #27

Part one of "Desecration" arrives in March 1995 with one of the most viscerally striking covers of the run — Simon Bisley paints the Spectre looming large, arms raised and cloak billowing like dark wings, while a writhing mass of tormented, demonic figures churns beneath him in hellish green and shadow. The sheer physical menace radiating from the Ghost of Vengeance here sets an ominous tone perfectly suited to an opening chapter. John Ostrander and Tom Mandrake continue their celebrated run on this title, and if the cover is any indication, "Desecration" is off to an uncompromising start.
