The Spectacular Spider-Man #39
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis February 1980 Marvel issue drops Spider-Man into a chaotic rooftop battle against a swarm of snarling green creatures, while a powerful blue-and-gold figure — the Schizoid Man — looms large in the foreground, one of the monsters seemingly under his influence. The cover, penciled by Jerry Bingham and inked by Joe Rubinstein, does a terrific job conveying the overwhelming scale of the threat, with Spider-Man surrounded far below by the monstrous horde as the city street stretches out beneath them. Bill Mantlo's "Scourge of the Schizoid-Man!" promises the kind of wild, high-energy Marvel storytelling that made Spectacular Spider-Man such a compelling companion title in 1980.
