Spider-Man looks like he's caught squarely between two threats on Luke Ross's cover — a snarling, feral figure lunging from above while a bald, wide-eyed adversary recoils below, and the bold tagline "He's Baaaack!" makes clear someone dangerous has returned. Issue #244 arrives in March 1997 with J. M. DeMatteis scripting a story aptly titled "Backlash," promising the kind of character-driven tension this creative team handles so well. If you've been following this run, this one looks like a compelling next chapter.
