Daniel Berkhart
Daniel Berkhart was a criminal associate of the original Mysterio, Quentin Beck, who trained him in the art of illusion and special effects. When Beck was believed dead, Berkhart assumed the Mysterio identity, using stagecraft and trickery to battle Spider-Man.
Conjured from the smoky illusionist's tradition of Marvel's Bronze Age, Daniel Berkhart made his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man #141 in 1975, courtesy of the legendary creative team of Gerry Conway and Ross Andru. He's a figure woven into the mystique of Mysterio β that iconic master of illusion β sharing the pages of some of Spider-Man's most atmospheric adventures alongside Peter Parker, Flash Thompson, and J. Jonah Jameson himself. Across five decades and titles like The Spectacular Spider-Man and Spider-Man: The Next Chapter, Berkhart has remained a quietly persistent presence in Spidey's world β not a household name, but exactly the kind of deep-cut Bronze Age discovery that rewards the dedicated collector who loves the shadowy corners of Marvel's history.
