The third issue of DC's The Shadow Strikes! brings a wonderfully eerie atmosphere to this 1989 series, with Eduardo Barreto's cover depicting a terrified woman at a séance table recoiling in shock — her hands raised, mouth open — as a crystal ball reveals the Shadow himself crouching with twin pistols drawn. A great horned owl swoops overhead while flickering candles frame the scene, setting an unsettling, supernatural tone perfectly suited to the story within, titled "Ghosts." Gerard Jones and Barreto make a compelling creative team for this pulp-tinged chapter of the Shadow's shadowy world.
