The Sensational Spider-Man #28
Part of Marvel's 1998 "Identity Crisis" crossover event, this issue finds Spider-Man literally split between two identities — the cover by Mike Wieringo and Rich Case depicts a striking half-and-half figure, one side in the classic red-and-blue Spider-Man costume and the other in the armored black-and-pink Hornet suit, complete with antennae and a grappling line. The bold yellow background with its web-wheel design makes the visual contrast pop in a way that perfectly captures the "Identity Crisis" badge emblazoned in the corner. With Todd DeZago writing and Wieringo pulling double duty on both story and art, this is a fun, visually inventive chapter in one of the late '90s' more ambitious Spider-Man storylines.
