This striking January 1983 cover by Tom Yeates places Swamp Thing at the center of a desperate struggle — the monstrous green figure writhes in agony, a golden medallion around his neck, as a blazing column of fire erupts behind him with a woman's ethereal form rising within the flames. Flanking him on either side are two threatening figures: a gray-haired woman leveling a pistol and a bandaged, mummy-like figure closing in from the shadows. With a story titled "Prelude to Holocaust," this issue from Martin Pasko and Jan Duursema promises the kind of mounting dread the series does so well.
