The issue was written by series mainstay Marv Wolfman, who had guided the Titans franchise since the landmark 1980 relaunch with George Pérez. By 1991, editor Jonathan Peterson had explicitly called for the book to shake off a creative rut, and 'Titans Hunt' — penciled primarily by Tom Grummett with inks by Al Vey — was the vehicle for that reinvention. Issue #79 was part of a stretch where guest pencilers Paris Cullins and Curt Swan filled in for Grummett, a pattern that the fan community noted disrupted the arc's visual consistency. The issue's cover was provided by Tom Grummett and Dick Giordano, with colors by Adrienne Roy and lettering by John Costanza — the same tight-knit production unit that defined the book's look throughout this era.
