A heavily muscular, shaven-headed figure sits with his back to us in what appears to be a weight room, a "FOR END" tattoo sprawling across his shoulders as he faces a bank of security-camera monitors — each screen flickering with scenes of Batman and shadowy combatants in conflict. Ryan Sook's cover composition is quietly unsettling, using that surveillance-grid backdrop to frame a sense of someone watching, waiting, and very much in control. Written by the quartet of Azzarello, Lemire, Jurgens, and Giffen, this July 2014 installment of The New 52: Futures End promises a story as layered and tense as its striking cover image.
